Beef Stew And Dumplings Recipe.


Ingredients:


For the Stew
1 1/4 LbStewing Steak
2 TBSP Plain Flour (Seasoned with Salt and Pepper)
3 Carrots (Peeled, Washed and Sliced)
1 Onion (Sliced)
1 Rutabaga (Chopped)
2 TBSP Olive Oil
1 TSP Tomato Puree
1/2 Cup Beef Stock
Pinch of Salt
Pinch of Ground Black Pepper
For the Dumplings
4 Oz Self Raising Flour
2 Oz Suet
Cold Water


Recipe Instructions:


Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cut the stewing steak into cubes and toss in the seasoned flour to fully coat.
Fry the sliced vegetables in olive oil over medium heat, in a large skillet until golden.
Divide the floured cubes of steak and brown each batch in a skillet over medium-high heat.
Once meat is cooked, take an oven proof casserole dish and place the vegetables meat, stock and tomato puree in the dish and season well with salt and pepper.
Cover with a tight fitting lid and place in the preheated oven for 2-2/12 hours or until the meat is tender.
An hour before the stew is ready, take a medium glass bowl and combine the flour, suet and enough water to form a firm, but soft dough.
Divide the dough into 8 pieces and drop them into the bubbling stew in the oven, 20 minutes before cooking is due to finish.
Remove stew from the oven, allow to stand for 5 minutes before serving in individual bowls with dumplings.
