2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1 TSP baking powder
1/2 TSP baking soda
1/2 TSP salt
1/8 TSP ground nutmeg
1/2 cup cold butter
2 large eggs, room temperature
1/4 cup buttermilk
1 TSP vanilla extract
1 cup finely chopped peeled ripe pears
In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt and nutmeg; cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Combine the eggs, buttermilk and vanilla; stir into the flour mixture just until moistened.
Fold in pears.
Spoon into 2 greased 5-3/4x3x2"
loaf pans.
Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks to cool completely.
