1 ½ oz gin
¾ oz fresh lemon juice
½ oz simple syrup
Champagne or sparkling wine
Lemon twist (for garnish)
Begin by chilling a champagne flute in the freezer or refrigerator for a few minutes. This will help keep your French 75 crisp and refreshing.
In a cocktail shaker, combine the gin, fresh lemon juice, and simple syrup. The combination of gin's botanical notes with the tartness of the lemon juice and the touch of sweetness from the simple syrup creates a harmonious balance of flavors.
Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 10-15 seconds. This will chill the ingredients and ensure they are well mixed.
Strain the mixture into the chilled champagne flute, filling it about three-quarters of the way.
Now, for the pièce de résistance, slowly top off the glass with champagne or sparkling wine. The effervescence of the bubbles adds a lively and celebratory touch to the cocktail.
Give the French 75 a gentle stir to combine the ingredients, without losing too much of the bubbly fizz.
To garnish, twist a lemon peel over the glass to release its oils, then drop it into the drink. The citrus aroma will enhance the overall experience.
