Sazerac by the Bayou Recipe.

Ingredients:

2 oz pecan-infused rye whiskey
½ oz brown sugar syrup
3 dashes Peychaud's bitters
Absinthe or Herbsaint (for rinsing)
Lemon twist (for garnish)

Pecan-Infused Rye Whiskey:

1 cup rye whiskey
½ cup pecans, toasted and chopped

Brown Sugar Syrup:

½ cup brown sugar
½ cup water

Recipe Instructions:

Start by preparing the pecan-infused rye whiskey. In a clean jar or bottle, combine the rye whiskey and toasted, chopped pecans. Seal the container and let it sit for 24-48 hours to infuse the flavors. Strain out the pecans before using the infused whiskey in the cocktail.

Next, prepare the brown sugar syrup. In a small saucepan, combine the brown sugar and water. Stir over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved completely. Remove from heat and let it cool before using in the cocktail.

Chill an Old Fashioned glass in the freezer for a few minutes. Meanwhile, gather the rest of your ingredients.

In the chilled Old Fashioned glass, rinse the interior with absinthe or Herbsaint. Swirl the liquid around the glass, coating the sides, and then discard the excess.

In a mixing glass, combine the pecan-infused rye whiskey, brown sugar syrup, and Peychaud's bitters. Fill the glass with ice and stir gently for about 30 seconds to combine the flavors and chill the mixture.

Strain the chilled whiskey, sugar, and bitters mixture into the absinthe-rinsed Old Fashioned glass.

To garnish, take a fresh lemon twist and express the oils by squeezing it gently over the glass.
