Dim Sum - Shumai (Pork Dumplings) Recipe.


Ingredients:


1/2 lb ground pork
1/4 cup peeled and deveined shrimp, finely chopped
2 tablespoons minced water chestnuts
2 tablespoons chopped green onions (white and green parts)
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
24 round dumpling wrappers
Green peas or carrot slices (for garnish)
Soy sauce and chili oil (for dipping)


Recipe Instructions:


In a large bowl, combine ground pork, chopped shrimp, minced water chestnuts, chopped green onions, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, sugar, and white pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Place a small spoonful (about 1 tablespoon) of the filling in the center of a dumpling wrapper. Gather the edges of the wrapper and gently pleat it around the filling, leaving the top exposed. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.

Place the shaped shumai on a baking sheet or a steamer lined with parchment paper.

Prepare a steamer and bring the water to a boil. Steam the shumai over high heat for about 10-12 minutes until the filling is cooked through and the wrappers are tender.

While steaming, you can garnish the top of each shumai with a green pea or a small slice of carrot for decoration.

Carefully remove the steamed shumai from the steamer and transfer them to a serving plate.
