1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
3 cups broccoli florets
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch, dissolved in 2 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon grated ginger
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Sesame seeds (for garnish)
Cooked rice or noodles (for serving)
In a bowl, combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch mixture, grated ginger, sugar, and black pepper. Set aside.
Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and stir-fry for about 1 minute until fragrant.
Add the thinly sliced beef to the skillet and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned and cooked to your desired level of doneness. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until they are tender-crisp.
Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the stir-fried broccoli.
Give the sauce mixture a quick stir and pour it into the skillet. Stir well to coat the beef and broccoli with the sauce.
Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the ingredients evenly.
Remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds.
